Roman Around in Provence

It’s a 50-mile drive through Provence from our home-base in Aix-en-Provence to Arles. Our first stop this morning was at Daudet’s Windmill. I’m tempted to make another stop or two along the way to see some Roman ruins. There’s no shortage of ’em in this part of France.  I guess you could say we’re “Roman around in Provence.” Continue reading “Roman Around in Provence”

Let’s Take a Drive to Daudet’s Windmill

Lost and Found in Aix-En-Provence

As you may recall from last time, we had just driven from Nice to Aix-En-Provence. Once in Aix, we went straight to the Centre-Ville area, where our hotel was located. We then proceeded to get hopelessly lost in the tortuous rat’s nest of medieval alleyways and backstreets of Centre-Ville. Continue reading “Lost and Found in Aix-En-Provence”

Perdu en Provence (Lost in Provence)

Au Revoir Nice. Bonjour Aix-en-Provence!

Ah oui. It’s time to say “au revoir” to Nice. Lots of people will be strolling along the Promenade des Anglais and having moules-frites in Cours Saleya tonight, but we won’t be among them. That’s the bad news. The good news is that we’re on our way to Aix-en-Provence. Continue reading “Au Revoir Nice. Bonjour Aix-en-Provence!”

Quick Visit to Monte Carlo

If you have any interest at all in seeing Monte Carlo, and you’re within striking distance, take the time to check it out. The casino is still here, just as it was in the movie, Casino Royale. And who knows? Maybe a retired James Bond is still somewhere around here, too. Continue reading “Quick Visit to Monte Carlo”
